The Hydrodynamic Research Centre at Kongsberg Maritime in Kristinehamn seeks to expand the Methods Development team with an additional Programmer to contribute to our ongoing success and development.
This unique opportunity involves maintaining and developing our in-house software framework, PropCalc, consisting of about 80 programs. PropCalc is a desktop application, mainly written in C++/MFC and Fortran, interfacing with third-party programs and databases. It integrates user-friendly tools for sales, design, and engineering of ship propulsion products, improving efficiency, performance, and quality.
You will join a dedicated and solution-oriented team where you will face situations with no obvious answers or solutions, challenging your creativity and problem-solving skills. It is essential that you collaborate effectively, maintain focus on structure and maintainability, and contribute with suggestions for improvements.
As a Programmer, your work will range from straightforward bug fixing to developing new tools and functionalities based on the organization's needs. You will work closely with users to understand their needs, as well as collaborate with the IT organization to ensure an effective implementation, both requiring strong interpersonal skills. Your main tools will include Git, Visual Studio, DevOps, and Server Management Studio.

We are seeking a candidate with a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent. Proficiency in C++, database management and interface programming are required. Additionally, experience in , MFC, OpenGL, and secure environments/export control is highly desirable. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Data Controller to join our Spare Parts Sales team in a new position within the Global Customer Support division. We are looking for a technically savvy individual who enjoys maintaining data quality and making improvements to processes and structure within systems.

As a Product Data Controller, you will work across two key areas: Configuration management and Item administration. You will create product data records in our databases and systems (BaaN, Lotus Notes, Install Data Product Database (IPDB), Team Center (PDM)) for our new vessels, identifying the vessel and its product structure. Maintenance and continual improvements to data quality and existing records is a key responsibility in this position. You will need to apply a long-term perspective and plan for future applications of product data such as potential use within B2B portals. Future projects may develop extending this position to oversee work scope and tasks performed by resources in Poland and/or Croatia KM teams working across similar functions.

In this role you will work closely with the Sales team and in collaboration with business development.

Qualifications and experience
To best fulfill our needs and make this a perfect fit, we believe you will have a technical interest and ability to read technical drawings and documents. Technical experience and education are also desirable but not required. Solid experience of Microsoft Office suite is required and practical experience working with BaaN enterprise resource planning system (ERP) is highly advantageous.

Regular communication with both international customers and colleagues is a big part of this role, therefore a high level of both oral and written English is necessary. Fluency in additional languages is advantageous.
