We are now looking for a new development engineer to strengthen our team as we are in an exciting phase of growth and product development. This role will be central in defining our products by setting requirements, creating technical solutions and work with the sub-suppliers to select and optimize the components. You will work with analysis, and you will be part of trouble shooting to resolve technical problems together with a team of positive engineers delivering excellence.

We think you should have - Qualifications and experience
To succeed in this position, you ideally have a master’s degree in engineering and preferably with some years of experience in mechanical design. Experience or understanding within naval engineering, marine propulsion, hydraulics and/or competence in electric machines, electronics or control systems is also advantageous. Qualifications and experience
To succeed in this position, we prefer you have a degree in Engineering, Hydraulics, Mechanical or relevant field in addition to industry work experience in hydraulics. An exciting opportunity has arisen as Shaft line calculation engineer at Kongsberg Maritime in Kristinehamn. We are looking for an engineer in the field of mechanics, engineering physics or equivalent to join our competent team working with calculations and analysis for propeller shaft line systems.
You will be part of our Product Management Propeller department who develops and deliver market leading world class propulsion solutions. This from a product portfolio that consists of propellers, shaft lines and reduction gears for all types of vessels, ranging from aircraft carriers to smaller luxury vessels in the commercial and naval market. Our propellers vary in sizes from 1,5 – 10 m in diameter and in Kristinehamn we have delivered our high-performance propellers for over 80 years, starting with the well-renowned KAMEWA-propeller.
As a Shaft line calculation engineer your work consists of various tasks, mainly focused on calculations and analysis for propeller shaft line systems. The calculations shall meet internal requirements and rules by Classification Societies or other regulatory bodies, and you should have the ability to document your work through technical reports. You will support the ongoing projects, as well as the need from new product development projects, and be involved in the whole product process, from sale to end of warranty.
In this role you will have the opportunity to be involved in development of new tools, methods and participate in root cause investigations. You will have interface within and outside the department with Designers, Project leads, Sales and Services. The EtO Engineer is responsible for the creation of specific project drawings and BOM structures for Waterjet. An exciting opportunity has arisen as Development Engineer in our Propulsion & Engines division at Kongsberg Maritime. You will be part of a competent team of experts working with development of our POD system. We are looking for you who has a master’s degree in engineering and can work goal-focused and independently making decisions. In this position, you will have the opportunity to be a central resource providing and verifying the technical solutions for our POD’s.
POD is a high-end, fully electric azimuthing thruster with the motor fitted inside the propulsor, directly driving the propeller. This eliminates the need for a gear in the driveline, providing a versatile, highly efficient, direct drive electric main propulsion. This type of propulsor is part of our forward-looking, environmental responsibility, electrifying the marine market.
As a Development Engineer you will be part of a team ensuring that our POD product meets our customer’s needs, but also classification and legislative demands. You will resolve and specify customer specific solutions to meet the market requirement, in addition to promote our products in customer meetings. You will be included in all stages of the product development of our complex propulsion systems, from first drawings to the final test run. Your position is characterized by working cross-functionally with colleagues from other departments in our global organization, as well as collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
