Our business consists of 280 employees spread out over the functions: Sales, Technical Support, Contract Management, Engineering to Order, Research, Delivery & Installation and Support functions. In Kristinehamn we uphold Product Management for various propulsion types such as propellers, rudders, waterjet, POD systems and control systems.
We are now looking for a strategic buyer who, together with a dedicated team, wants to deliver high-tech products on the global marine market. Do you have a technical background, strong initiative and are driven to achieve strategic goals? If so, you are the one we are looking for!
About the position
In the role as a strategic buyer, you are responsible for sourcing activities within forged products and work in close collaboration with our suppliers of shafts and forgings for our propeller and shaft line business. Together with two other strategic buyers, operational buyers, and our Supplier Quality team, you will ensure a good quality sourcing flow at the right time and at the right cost.
In our customer projects, you have a continuous dialogue with suppliers and request quotations based on drawings, as well as make supplier selections for each unique project. You are responsible for contracts as well as negotiations regarding costs and terms and ensure that selected suppliers have the capacity and ability to deliver according to the customer's wishes.
You will also work on a strategic level in the following areas:
Lead the strategic development of the forging category for propellers and shaft line business.
Work in close collaboration with the sales department to identify and develop effective solutions in the early project phase, leading to increased margins and additional sales.
Create and maintain a sourcing flow that ensures high quality and at every step of the process with high priority in health, safety, and environment.
Lead cost reduction projects within the supply chain, driving our continuous work with sustainable savings.
Be up to date on the supplier market, buy up and phase out suppliers for optimal competitiveness.
Run Business Review meetings for our key suppliers.
The position includes approximately 6-12 trips per year for supplier visits and internal conferences.
Your background
We are looking for you who have a university degree in economics or engineering. You have previous experience of purchasing and/or sales processes, where strategies and negotiation were a natural part of the role. Our projects are completely customer-unique, and therefore a technical understanding is crucial for you to succeed in the role. If you have previous experience within forged products, your chances increase even further. As part of a global organization the position also requires a high level of written and spoken English.
